Florida records over 6,000 new coronavirus cases and 48 more deaths

Florida’s new coronavirus cases dipped dramatically on Monday, after two straight days of over 10,000 cases -- including a record-shattering 11,458 new cases on Sunday.

On Monday, the state clocked in 6,336 new cases since Sunday morning, according to the Florida Department of Health.

So far, 206,447 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

Since Sunday, 48 new people have died from the disease, bringing the state total of deaths to 3,880.

There have been 2,235,937 total tests conducted in the state, including an additional 33,842 tests since Sunday.

Overall, 9.2% of those tested have tested positive for the disease. That number has continued to steadily increase in recent days.

From Sunday to Monday, 18.7% of people tested for the virus were positive, double the state average throughout the pandemic.
