Tyson recalls frozen breaded chicken due to contamination risk

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - 6/9/2018

June 09--Tyson Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 3,120 pounds of frozen breaded chicken products that might be contaminated by plastic, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's food Safety and Inspection Service announced.

The frozen, uncooked and breaded chicken tenderloins were produced on May 17 and have the product designation "P-746" on the package. The chicken packaged in 12 pound boxes containing 3 pound plastic bags labeled as "uncooked, breaded, original chicken tenderloins" with the lot code "1378NLR02" were shipped to food service establishments nationwide, according to the government.

The problem was discovered on June 8 by Tyson in North Little Rock, Ark. The company notified the Agriculture Department that their breading supplier was recalling the breading ingredients due to possible foreign material contamination.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the possible contamination. Food service institutions that purchased the chicken are urged to discard the product.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact the Tyson call center at 888-747-7611.
