After customers found glass, hard silica in this food, over 36,000 pounds of it got recalled

Miami Herald - 11/19/2017

Nov. 19--No known recipes for chicken salad or turkey salad include glass fragments or hard silica. Hearing from customers who found those items in their salads caused Green Cuisine to recall of 36,854 pounds of chicken salad and turkey salad sold under the Trader Joe's name.

The latest not-food-in-your-food recall, announced Saturday night, covers these products:

-- 10.5-ounce packages of Trader Joe's White Meat Chicken Salad with celery, carrots and green onions.

-- 11.0-oz. packages of Trader Joe's Curried White Chicken Deli Salad with toasted cashews, green onion and a bit of honey.

-- 10.25-oz. packages of Trader Joe's Turkey Cranbery Apple Salad with sweet dried cranberries, tangy green apples, pecans and sage.

All have a Use By date from Nov. 10 through Nov. 21. They were sold in stores in California, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Anyone with these products should throw them away or return them for a refund. The USDA defined this as Class 1 recall, meaning, "This is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."
