Check Your Fridge: Stew Leonard's Brand Beef Franks Recalled

NORWALK, Conn. ? A voluntary recall of nearly 7.2 million pounds of hot dogs by Sabrett/Marathon Enterprises includes Sabrett brand and Stew Leonard's brand refrigerated hot dogs.

The recalled hot dogs have a sell through date of 6/25/17 to 10/6/17 in a 16-ounce package (See the label above).

"There is a concern that the products might potentially contain pieces of bone or cartilage," said a Stew Leonard's statement. The recall was issued July 14, the U.S. Department of Agriculture'sFood Safety and Inspection Service said.

There have been no reported injuries associated with the consumption of these products. This recall does not include Stew Leonard's NAKED brand of grass fed hot dogs.

"The health and safety of Stew Leonard's customers remains the Leonard family's top priority," said the statement.

Customers who have purchased either Sabrett or Stew Leonard's hot dogs at Stew Leonard's with a sell through date of 6/25/17 to 10/6/17, should take the products to their local Stew Leonard's Customer Service desk for a full refund.

The USDA has classified this as a Class 1 recall, meaning the health risk is high. Customers should not eat the products.

A large variety of other brands of hot dogs and sausages are included in the recall.

Stew Leonard's has dairy stores in Norwalk, Danbury and Newington as well as Yonkers, N.Y.
