Crack down on smoking on beaches in Margate

People spend billions of dollars yearly to live at and visit the shore for its healthy beach, sun, surf and air.

Yet some would contaminate it with well-known carcinogens. The Centers for Disease Control says there is no safe level of second-hand smoke from tobacco products and second-hand smoke can cause serious health problems.

The U.S. surgeon general said nearly half of all non-smoking Americans are regularly exposed to tobacco smoke, which increases the risk of lung cancer and heart disease, while children face special risks for lung and ear infections.

I commend the residents of 9600 Condominiums for their effort to prohibit smoking on the Margate City beach. Yes, there is already a law on the Margate books that can eliminate smoking on the beach. It's under the heading of "offensive odors." Beach badge checkers can be given the authority to enforce it by warning or possible summons.

Trump critics criticized

Lately, it seems like everyone wants to exercise their free speech to show hatred, violence, prejudice and total disrespect for the new president. I never liked Barak Obama, but when he became president, I always referred to him as president, whether I agreed or disagreed with his policies. What is going on towards Donald Trump is unacceptable to me. So everyone who hates him, that's too bad. Here are my free speech views of some of his critics.

Shame on Jimmy Kimmel for using his son's situation to criticize Trump; he should make a confession to God. Stephen Colbert should have been fired for calling the president obscene names; he should look in the mirror. Kathy Griffin's bloody display of Trump's decapitated head shows that she's unhinged and mentally ill.

Bill Maher should be fired. CNN and MSNBC should be taken off the air. All Democrats should be on anti-depressants.

People should put God in their lives because their unhappiness is spreading around the world.

Technologies will handle pollution, climate change

Progressives label those who minimize the human component of climate change as deniers. It's as though skeptics have committed blasphemy to the mother earth and the church of the dictators club, also known as the United Nations. This green religious fervor precludes any possibility of debate on the issue.

Conservatives wonder if the climate zealots are delusional for believing mankind can actually control climate change. The United Nations climate change talks in Paris have shown that the true deniers are those who would subvert the advancement of Third World peoples through bribery and chicanery. Thankfully, President Trump recognized the ruse and withdrew us from the boondoggle accord.

Controlling pollution on state and national levels shows we have been diligent without globalist input. Instituting punitive taxes on naturally occurring gases will only alienate people who otherwise support a clean environment. World pollution levels will stabilize through the continued advancement of technology. Fusion reactors, hydrogen fuel cells and solar generation will eventually curtail the addiction to oil.

Advancing humanity while reducing pollution will come when people put their money on these promising technologies rather than controlling world populations with bribes, scare tactics and punishing carbon taxes. Climate fanatics should join a church to satisfy their religious zeal and leave the climate to nature.
