75,233 pounds of Missa Bay salad products recalled due to E.coli

Approximately 75,233 pounds of Missa Bay LLC salad products have been recalled due to potential E. coli contamination.
The salad products,sold under various private labelsincluding at Aldi and Target, were produced in the Swedesboro establishment between Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. The salad products include meat or poultry, though it is the lettuce that may have the E.coli contamination.

The United States Department of Agriculture mark of inspection on the products subject to recall bear establishment number EST. 18502B.
An unopened package of Ready Pac Bistro Chicken Raised Without Antibiotics Caesar Salad with EST number 18502B was tested byMaryland Department of Health as part of afoodborne illness outbreak investigation. It tested positive for E.coli. All products from the same lot of lettuce are included in the recall.
Items were shipped to distribution locations 22 states, including New Jersey, Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Consumers are urged not to consume these products, which should either be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
Symptoms of E.coli include diarrhea often bloody and vomiting. Most people recover within a week, though an uncommon reaction is a kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome marked by easy bruising, pallor and decreased urine output. People experiencing those symptoms should seek medical care immediately.
A call to a number associated with Missa Bay LLC was not picked up. The USDAFood Safety and Inspection Service did not return a request for comment by press time.
