Three more flu reported in Arkansas; total rises to 14 this season

Jan. 23--Three more Arkansans have died from the flu, bringing the total number of flu-related deaths in the state this season to 14.

The latest Arkansas Department of Health flu report was released Tuesday. It reports on the week ending Jan. 12.

One of the flu deaths in Arkansas this season was a child. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported a total of 16 pediatric deaths nationwide this season. Three of those pediatric flu deaths occurred in the past week.

Since Sept. 30, 2018, more than 3,100 positive influenza tests have been reported to the ADH online database by health care providers. That's an increase of 400 from last week. No reports of influenza outbreaks were reported from nursing homes or other facilities this season.
